COVID-19

We are beginning to think about restarting NEWTS, but COVID-19 means there will obviously be changes to how we do things.

  • Meetings will be restricted to 16 people, including the speaker, to allow for Social Distancing.
  • We would ask you to supply a contact phone number when you respond to the invitation, for Track and Trace purposes.
  • Tasting sheets will be sent out before the meeting, so members can print them out before they come.
  • Members are asked to wear masks in those areas common to other Church Hall hirers (lobby, toilets, etc) and masks and gloves in the kitchen.
  • Hand santiser will be provided just inside the door of the Small Hall.
  • On arrival, we would ask members to go straight to their seats.
  • Seating will be by social bubble or, for individuals, using metre-plus distancing rules. A seating plan will be provided, so please let us know if you have a non-family “bubble” group who wish to sit together. In addition, it would be helpful if you could stagger arrival times between 8pm and 8.20pm, with a view to starting the meeting at 8.30pm.
  • If you have your own tasting glasses, then we would recommend that you bring them to meetings.
    • NEWTS will still provide glasses if needed, and these will be washed before and after each meeting.
  • We will provide bottled water and, if possible, individually wrapped biscuits. We will not be providing cheese.
    • Please feel free to bring your own water bottles and snacks to share within your bubble.
  • We will not be able to provide spitoons. Therefore, we recommend that you bring your own container for that purpose.
  • In the current climate, we would discourage socialising over the remaining wine after the meeting. If you do wish to catch up with people, please wear a mask and respect Social Distancing.

Members who have been categorised as Extremely Vulnerable by PHE are advised not to come to meetings, while those categorised as Vulnerable, are asked to think very carefully about whether they wish to come.
